Final Consortium Meeting

From December 2 to 3, 2024, the final consortium meeting took place—a special moment to celebrate the achievements and collaboration of the past five years.
Day 1: Unique Insights and Presentations in an Inspiring Setting
The two-day event began with a guided tour of Borussia Dortmund’s stadium. Participants enjoyed fascinating behind-the-scenes insights into one of Europe’s most renowned football clubs.
Following the tour, the group gathered in the exclusive EVONIK Lounge to present the project results achieved so far. The remarkable progress and innovative solutions developed within the MACBETH project were celebrated by everyone in attendance. The day concluded with a delightful dinner and a poster exhibition, offering a retrospective of previous project meetings. Five years of collaboration were celebrated—a time in which both familiar and new faces helped shape the project’s dynamics.
Day 2: Experiencing Progress First-Hand and Cultural Highlights
The second day began with a visit to the MACBETH demonstration plant and MACBETH mini-plants at EVONIK in Marl. It was inspiring to see the progress made in developing and implementing the innovative membrane reactor technology. The tour of the demo plant highlighted the significance of the project for the chemical industry.
After the technical visit, the group traveled to Essen to visit the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour through this historic industrial site provided fascinating insights into the industrial past and emphasized the importance of developing modern technologies with respect for history and culture.
The afternoon focused on presenting the results of individual work packages and discussing administrative matters. An especially encouraging prospect for the future: two follow-up projects are already planned to build on and expand the achievements made so far.
The final MACBETH project meeting was a successful conclusion to an extraordinary chapter and, at the same time, a launchpad for future developments. The past five years have demonstrated the strength of European collaboration in the field of innovative technologies.
