Update: H2 case Demonstrator at CNH2
- 27/01/2025
The test campaign of the H2 demonstrator at CNH2 is finally nearing its conclusion. Each day, the MA-SR is powered on, producing high-purity hydrogen for several hours after its warm-up phase. The daily routine of warming up, production, and cooling down tests the system’s reliability, yet it consistently performs without any loss of efficiency.
One of the main challenges during this final stage is the harsh winter weather, with freezing temperatures, rain, wind, and ice. These conditions extend the time required to reach operating temperature compared to the milder autumn months. However, this demonstrates that thermal stress does not pose a significant issue for NG reforming or its membranes.
So far, the system has achieved over 400 hours of operation, including 126 hours of hydrogen production. The next step, after the final shutdown, will be to decommission the system in collaboration with H2Site and prepare it for transport back home.
